AZIENDA AGRICOLA
The company FERRO S.S . is a modern, family-run farm located near the Venetian lagoon, a few kilometres from Chioggia (VE). In 1976 Aristide Ferro and his wife Silvana took over the full management of the family farm, passed down through numerous generations, continuing to breed livestock and starting to grow some vegetables. In 1995, their children Igor and Erika joined their father and started to grow exclusively local produce typical of the Veneto plain, in particular:

- VARIEGATED RADICCHIO (FLECKED)
- LEEK
- WHITE ASPARAGUS
The products are looked after throughout the whole cycle and even earlier with the choice of variety and crop rotations. In the subsequent processing stages, typical steps of organic farming are also implemented such as false seeding and mechanical weeding. All the processes are carefully recorded in a specific log book so as to guarantee complete traceability.
The product is harvested completely by hand so as not to damage it and is then stored in cold rooms before being washed in special vats and packaged in polystyrene or wooden trays, or it is processed dry and dispatched according to specific customer requirements.
The farm supplies various fruit and vegetable markets in Veneto and in particular Padua, directly using our own vehicles, so as to guarantee the continuity of the cold chain, to the various platforms.
Thanks to careful organisation, our products even reach demanding foreign markets, such as the German and Spanish ones, all year round.
In fact, the farm has always implemented a careful product quality policy, applying the HACCP, procedure, checking the soil, the waters and the products themselves with periodic annual analyses certified by GlobalGap certification.

The farm, which has been passed down through the generations, was taken over in 1976 by Aristide Ferro and his wife. At that time it focused mainly on breeding livestock with just a small leek and radicchio growing part.
As the years passed, around 1995, their children Igor and Erika joined their father and the farm moved over to the specialism of growing vegetables.

The vegetables grown are:

The treated surface area is about 50 hectares and the products are looked after throughout all the steps of their life cycle and even earlier with:
• The soil preparation
• Seeding or transplanting
• Irrigation
• Distribution of phytosanitary products
The product is harvested in the field, by hand only, and stored in cold rooms. It is then washed in special vats and prepared in polystyrene or wooden trays, or is left to dry and sent on industrial plastic crates, according to customer requirements.
